										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Drum is an original piece from the Mandang region, Papua New Guinea.</p>
<p>Traditionally the drum would be used during ceremonial events. After a feast, dances would be carried out and would be accompanied by the sound of the Kundu Drum. Usually performed by the men of the tribe.</p>
<p>Local timber, Likely from the tree Pterocarpus Indicus. Skin of the drum is from a large lizard creating a beautiful spotted affect. Beautiful tribal patterns carved into the drum, locally significant designs used. Great condition.</p>
<p>Sourced in 1965</p>
<p>Artist Unknown.</p>
