Kundu Drum

The Drum is an original piece from the Mandang region, Papua New Guinea.

Traditionally the drum would be used during ceremonial events. After a feast, dances would be carried out and would be accompanied by the sound of the Kundu Drum. Usually performed by the men of the tribe.

Local timber, Likely from the tree Pterocarpus Indicus. Skin of the drum is from a large lizard creating a beautiful spotted affect. Beautiful tribal patterns carved into the drum, locally significant designs used. Great condition.
